Welcome To Rail Trail Boardwalk
The Rail Trail Boardwalk foundation is a building that has been in the community since the early 1920’s.
In the beginning it was the site for Gheen Lumber office, which burned in 1926. In the late 1920’s it housed the earliest surviving service station in the central Shelby area. Since then, the structure has been used for a Candy Shop, Bus Stop, Clock Repair shop and Future Energy. This one-story brick station with is false façade and tile overhang across the front is an important nod to the early automotive era in Shelby.
